"Some of the staff were very offhand"

About: Stepping Hill Hospital / Cardiology

(as a friend),

I have been visiting an elderly gentlemen friend who had suffered a stroke and had been transferred from B2 to A12 until a care package had been arranged prior to discharge. I arranged my visits to coincide with meal times so I could assist him with his meals. Some of the staff were very offhand and my friend confided that he found it very difficult to understand what they were saying and if you asked for help they were quite offhand. I observed a patient opposite my friend who was blind and deaf and when he asked for assistance and none was forthcoming, so I ended up feeding him. On the day of discharge my friend looked dishevelled and unshaven, even though the ward had plenty of notice.
