In the early hours of 29/08/15 I went in to labour. For medical reasons I was planned for a section so had an emergency section, with my baby safely arriving at 7. 43am.
I've been meaning for a while (the last 18 months actually) to contact the Maternity Unit to praise the care I received. However, more specifically, one member of staff truly stood out.
This being a male theatre assistant or nursing assistant whose name I can't remember. It was Tam or Rab or something shortened and Scottish I think! Hopefully the date and time will let management pin point the member of staff I'm discussing.
This staff member truly put me at ease. He held my hands whilst the spinal was being administered and thoroughly explained everything to me prior to the procedure taking place. He made me laugh and really made my first experience of having surgery and having my first baby a positive one. I had been so nervous but he had such a genuine, caring nature and helped enormously to keep my anxieties at bay.
I never got to thank this man as the shift changed as I was taken to the recovery area.
It might not sound like much but this man's care really does stand out and I'll remember him whenever I think back to the experience I had when my son was born.
