About: Highfield Hospital

What I liked

I was originally referred to the The Royal Oldham hospital where a catalogue of mainly admin/communication errors made a worrying situation much worse. The decision I took to take control of the situation and go to Highfield was the best I ever made.

From the fitst consultation my confidence was restored because, though I faced some difficult possibilities, I was better informed and arrangements followed through in an organised manner.

All staff from admin, reception, medical, theatre and ancillary including catering and porters etc. knew what they were doing, did it well, in a friendly manner and as thbough they liked working at Highfield. My consultant surgeon was excellent and the outcome thankfully was very positive. I couldn't possibly thank them enough for the reassurance their professionalism gave me and my family during a very difficult time.

What could be improved

It is ten years since I last had surgery and a hospital stay and, thanks only to medical insurance from my husband's job, I have been able to go to Highfield on both occasions. The care has remained really excellent and obviously the technology and range of services has continued to improve so I can't make any suggestions for improvement except to say keep on doing what you do so well and retain the excellent staff teams you have in place.

Whatever makes the difference between Highfield and some of the other local hospitals, It's such a shame you can't bottle and sell it.
