About: Wycombe Hospital / Cardiology

(as a relative),

Hi, this is a story about my mother who is recovering from a serious coronary condition currently at Wycombe hospital, having been transferred from the Imperial trust in Hammersmith, London where she has been looked after for the past week following a life threatening heart condition.

The emergency care that my mother received has been exceptional... when a life is threatened our National Health Service is something to be truly proud of.

However, as we come out of the other side of this family trauma, it becomes increasingly more evident that there is limited resource within the hospital trust to ensure she is fit and ready to go home, but overbearing pressure from hospital management to clear the beds. The acute reality of this is that my mother was told that she was leaving today, by staff who wrestle with doing what is right for the patient, and doing what they are instructed by senior management. She is not in a safe physical or mental state to return to her home, without adequate care in place.

Dear Salamander

I am so sorry to learn that your mother has been recovering from a serious coronary condition at Wycombe Hospital. Although, it is pleasing that you feel the emergency care provided by the NHS is exceptional, and something to be proud of. I hope your mother continues to make a good recovery.

However, we are concerned that your mother is being discharged from hospital and you feel that she is not in a safe physical or mental state to return to her home, without adequate care in place.

We would like to understand more about your mother's situation, both to try and resolve this matter for you and to learn from your experience of our services.

If you are happy to share more detail about your specific experience with us, please contact our dedicated Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS) on 01296 316042 or email pals@buckshealthcare.nhs.uk
