"A&E, AMU and Ward 100"

About: Royal Stoke University Hospital / Gastroenterology

(as the patient),

I cannot complain about anything to do with the care and treatment I received at the hospital.

I came into A&E on a Sunday evening and was seen by a doctor within an hour which after all the stories I had heard, I wasn't expecting to be seen for a good few hours! Although I did spend the night in A&E I had my own cubicle and the nurses were fantastic, constantly coming to check on me and were there within a few minutes if I needed anything.

The next morning (Monday), I was moved to AMU where again I was faced with brilliant staff who made you feel like you were the only patient they were caring for. One nurse in particular (Amanda) was excellent, very compassionate! I wish I could have stayed in AMU for the rest of my stay in hospital!

I then went to stay on Ward 100 late Monday night until Thursday night. Although I don't have anything to complain about as such, as I was not mistreated or neglected on this ward, I do not feel as though I was treated with the same compassion as I was in A&E and AMU. I realise that on a ward like this the nurses have more patients to care for with more complex needs, but it felt like they hadn't got a lot of time for you. But I do not by any means feel as though my time on this ward was a negative one. Just different to what I expected after the excellent treatment I received in A&E and AMU.

I would like to thank all of the nurses and doctors that took care of me whilst I was in hospital! They really are doing an excellent job!
