"Accident and Emergency Waiting Times!"

About: University Hospital Ayr / Accident & Emergency University Hospital Ayr / Cardiology

(as the patient),

Been here since just before 10am, been seen by Triage nurse. Now the waiting area is filling up and folk are bypassing me!

Getting stressed here as being an Angina sufferer and this being heart trace related warning from excellent emergency ambulance staff this morning.

Should have let them take me in, all I can tell fae this experience is that I can't be that serious as I am still here at 12 midday.

I respond initially to most of the posts and ensure they are passed to the appropriate team whether they are compliments, observations or grumbles. It is important to make sure all issues are addressed and I try to encourage that to happen for all the posts as required.

Dear rayfaetroon60,

I am sorry, it does seem as if you are having a very stressful time at the moment. I am sure being stressed is unhelpful, particularly as you are a carer and have a heart issue.

If I may, I would like to offer a possible explanation. I know it can look as if people are going ahead of you while waiting for some hospital appointments and while it can happen in error, it is often because people are waiting on different specialists. In your case, you will have been waiting to see a person from the Cardiology department and they are not based in the department, being called when required. At the time they are called, they may be doing a ward round or carrying out a medical procedure etc.

Waiting is tedious and anxiety provoking, but I hope it helps to understand why you may have experience this 'delay'.

I hope you did not wait long after you posted and you are feeling better now.

Kind regards,

Eunice
