My 71 year old Father was admitted to A&E in Pinderfelds last week. On arrival we were told that if he needed a bed then the wait in A&E would be at least 16 hours.
At one point the cubicle my Father was placed in was partitioned off and used as two cubicles. Staff were obviously trying their best but during the time my Father was in A&E we struggled to access basic care such as a wheel chair to take him to the toilet, food, fluid and a pressure relieving equipment. He was also assessed by three different medics during the time in A&E which did not feel safe or seamless.
I felt that my father was at risk of poor fluid in take, poor nutritional intake, falls, infection (sharing a cubicle! ! ) and forget privacy and dignity........
