My wife had been suffering from stomach pains for several weeks and wasn't getting better. Her GP gave her medication to try and help. She had an appointment to see a Gastroenterologist. The night before her appointment, my wife was getting ill much faster, so I called out of hours for advice. She was told to go and see the GP and see what they say. The GP that saw her was her own GP from the surgery she is registered at. She was told she was in pain as she hadn't eat food that day and was to double up on her medication. When she got outside, she was violently sick.
The next day, she went to her outpatients appointment. When she arrived she got dizzy and fainted. Two nurses came to her aid and put her in a wheelchair and took her to her appointment. The doctor wasn't happy, so he sent her to A&E and see a surgeon. They done an xray and further tests and found out she had a hole in her stomach and it needed to be repaired asap. She was admitted to ward 7 at Monklands Hospital. She was rushed in to theatre as she had a Duodenal Ulcer Perforation. The operation was bigger than the consultation first thought. Afterwards, she was sent to ICU for 48 hours, then to Level 1 in HDU. She spent just over a week there before moving to the main ward. After 14 days she got released from hospital and is slowly on the mend. The surgeon and his team and the nurses of Ward 7 were out of this world with the level of care my wife received whilsts being a patient. We both can't thank them all enough for saving my wife's life and looking after her and getting her on the mend.
"Outstanding care from Doctors and Nurses"
