"I am listened to here"

About: Locked & Specialist Rehab / Ashby Ward

(as a staff member posting for a patient/service user),

My biggest issue is consistency of communication as it varies so much. A lot of stuff is forgotten because of the way the ward is. If I ask for something and the staff have 14 or 15 patients to deal with, what I have asked for may be forgotten. I've been in prison and I preferred it there because I had a leaving date. Here you do not have a leaving date. If the ward is unsettled it is not good, so If I can help keep my ward settled that is in my best interests. I try to keep the peace on the ward. At the hospital where I was before, I wasn't listened to and I am here. Instead of using the stick they use the carrot here. My psychologist is good and knows my innermost thoughts. I feel I am listened to and respected.

Thank you for your comments. I'm sorry that stuff is forgotten and we need to try and ensure that we have a way of dealing with requests in a sensible and practical way - otherwise it becomes very frustrating for you. However, I am glad you feel you are listened to and that will greatly help with your progress.

With best wishes Lynn
