"I can only commend everyone"

About: Aberdeen Royal Infirmary / Emergency Medicine

(as the patient),

I had to go to a and e for severely pain related to slipped disc. I could barely walk or stand and spent the time in the waiting room on my hands and knees.

I was seen very quickly by a lovely male nurse (can't remember names sorry! ) and a paramedic. He was so caring and worked really quickly as I was in so much pain, I was moved to the assessment area and the staff cleared a bay for me and sourced a trolley so I could lie in the only position which was not agony. From initially being taken from waiting room to being given oral morph I think was no longer than 5-6 mins. I was then seen by a doctor who again was lovely, sympathetic and attentive. I was given more pain killers and muscle relaxants and left to rest. The other nurses regularly checked on me and happily showed my partner to the toilets.

I was very apprehensive about taking up time in the emergency dept and not once was I made to feel uncomfortable or a nuisance. They were very busy, but I can only commend everyone from receptionist, nurses, students, support workers and doctors. thank you very much!

Hi CLIMBER01

Thank you so much for your lovely feedback. I hope you are recovering well and no longer in pain!

Your story will be shared within our department, our staff will be incredibly pleased to hear how quickly you received the care and medication you needed while in their care. We appreciate when patients take time to let us know of their experiences and pass on their appreciation, it means a lot to staff.

Again I hope your recovery is a speedy one.

Best wishes

I am really sorry to hear you've not had the speedy recovery I'd wished. I hope the further treatment/surgery you mention will make this possible for you and that you are being taken care of. I look forward to hearing of your second experience in the Emergency Department and throughout the other services, your feedback is much appreciated.

Get well soon and best wishes

Kerry
