I attended the Day Surgery Unit at Queen Margaret Hospital, Dunfermline for Laparoscopic Gallbladder surgery. The staff were open, friendly and informative throughout. Each staff member who would make up my team in Theatre took the time to introduced themselves and their role prior to me going to theatre. This really helped reduce my anxiety when I came into the anaesthetic room as there were familiar faces!
The routine prior; the procedure and the after care were clearly explained at every stage thus reducing my apprehension. A patient opposite me became quite distressed at one stage and I felt the staff handled this well with discretion; care and compassion. this reduced her stress and displayed what is at the core of the NHS values.
The unit was well laid out; clean and comfortable.
