"Dirty busy hospital with many ..."

About: St Mary's Hospital (HQ) (London)

What I liked

Dirty busy hospital with many staff that were too busy to care. There was nothing to be liked about this hospital apart from a few good staff trying to work in bad conditions.

What could be improved

many staff are rude because they are over worked and stressed

the hospital should be constantly cleaned because of the turn over of people

behind doors, bins places people dont see need to be cleaned.

the waiting times are terrible

the sharing bed space with other sick people is horrible

staff do little to prevent infections going from one patient to another

St Mary's NHS Trust appreciates that service users have the right to comment on their individual experience and we value all feedback both positive and negative. This comment will be forwarded to the appropriate service manager to follow up and will also be circulated to the Executive Board.

However, we believe that this visitor's experience is not typical for the majority of patients and visitors to our hospital. St Mary's NHS Trust is judged one of the best performing and safest hospitals in the country by Dr Foster, the independent healthcare research company. The Healthcare Commission annual Health Check places St Mary's in the top 40 per cent of NHS organisations in the country with a good score for the quality of our services. Our patient surveys and direct feedback confirm that patients recognise the dedication and professionalism of staff working at the Trust. Our waiting times for A&E, outpatient appointments and inpatient care fall within the national targets. All staff at the Trust recognise the importance of infection control measures in protecting patients and it is a a measure of how seriously the Trust takes this issue that the requirement to comply with infection control measures is included in employment contracts for staff.

We encourage patients or visitors who have concerns about specific issues to raise them with our staff directly or through our PALS service."
