The midwives at Tiverton Hopsital are all lovely. It is a nice new hospital and very spacious...

What could be improved

It seems such a waste of a good hospital that all it seems to be is a respite home for the elderly. we have had to take our son their at the weekend for a suspected broken arm and were sent to Exeter because it was the weekend and the X-ray department in tiverton isnt open at weekends, we were at Wonford for approx 6 hours.....my son was 5 at the time! this is unacceptable when there is an x-ray department in our local hopsital. the same happened with my partner after he was attacked and again we spent abpprox 5 hours down at wonford waiting for an x ray because it was the weekend. The journey alone caused him alot of pain.This was unacceptable. I thikn the midwives at tiverton as well as mothers ot be get very frustrated that they can only look after women who have straigforward pregnancies labours and births. i recently started suffering from stomach pains at 31 weeks and had to go to Exeter to be monitored. I undertand if the baby had come itwould have needed special care but surely Tiverton midwives could have monitored me and made a decision as to whether i needed to go to Exeter or not? They are fully trained midwives who have been robbed of doing a proper job and as amum and mum to be who has experienced having a baby in Exeter I would rather have the care I received at Tiverton than in the rushed Exeter maternity wards. Make tiverton hopsital a proper hospital, where x-rays can happen all the time and the mdwives can do their jobs properly. With all the houses going up in tiverton and more families coming we need a proper hospital.
