I have nothing but praise for the breast reconstruction team. The chief consultant and surgeon is dedicated, honest, authentic, meticulously thorough and caring, the team of other doctors absolutely reflect their own values and I felt I received exceptional care throughout including the quality and range of specialist surgical procedures. The specialist breast reconstruction nurses are also amazing, and offer support way beyond that I was offered in my local hospital, responding to emails and phone calls promptly and always finding time for a chat when needed. I felt I was treated like a person, not just another patient with breast cancer, and when things didn't go according to plan the whole team rallied round instantly to try and put things right. The hospital itself is huge and modern, with many single rooms.
Although I didn't get one, I was in a ward with only 4 beds and a door that could be closed into the corridor at night, which is far better than the huge and noisy wards I've been in before.
The food was variable but with some meals I really enjoyed and the local sourcing policy was excellent, as were the incredibly friendly and helpful waiting staff.
