"Impressed by my treatment"

About: East Surrey Hospital / Trauma and orthopaedics

(as the patient),

I broke my right leg in my back garden at 0855 one Monday . I rang 999 on my mobile and the operator gave me advice and sent an ambulance which arrived in around 25 minutes. The crew were excellent, stabilised me and took me to East Surrey, arriving around 1010. I was assessed, X-rayed, plastered, X-rayed again and admitted to Leigh Ward. At around 1000 next morning I was operated on. I had broken both tibia and fibula. The fractures were set and the tibia pinned. I was returned to the ward. On Thursday and Friday I was given lessons on crutches and negotiating stairs. On Friday evening I was discharged. All the staff I met were kind, patient, efficient and professional. I was impressed by my treatment throughout.
