"Did not have blood tests when I had chest pain"

About: East Surrey Hospital / Accident and emergency

(as the patient),

East Surrey Hospital, a serious complaint. Originally sent to A&E last week with bad chest pains. No blood test was done even though I have a history of pericarditis and my notes say that if I have chest pain to ring an ambulance, it's an emergency. Doctor told to me come back in a week if the pain was bad and gave me some anti-inflammatory pills which did not work. I went to work on Monday and the pain was still there and actually worse. I tried picking something up and the pain was unbearable so I rang my GP immediately. After assessing me they got me an ambulance and I went straight to A&E again.

I was told that a blood test should have been carried out on Friday and in fact I am unfit to work and by doing so on Monday, if I decided to carry on I could have had a cardiac arrhythmia or other serious problems. This is a massive concern for me that the system has allowed this. After doing some research online I am informed that cardiac arrhythmia can lead to cardiac arrest. Now I know full well that one can die from cardiac arrest so my question is this. Why was a blood test not done? And could I have actually died due to a lack of inspection/advice?

I also was in the cardiology department but the staff there were very helpful.
