"Hand Washing"

I thought that hand washing was of paramount importance with regard to concerns over MSA and such like? However, after my wife had surgery she was transferred along the 'main street' public corridor, about a 3 to 5 minute walk by two porters and two nurses to the Rowan ward, on entering the ward and as i followed closely behind, no one stopped to hand wash, except me! When one of the nurse's spotted me she stepped back and hand washed, but the other three just carried on, I thought they would set a good example to me, not the other way round!
