"My 3year old sons trip to Royal Children's Hospital, Glasgow"

About: New Victoria Hospital / Out-of-hours GP service NHS 24 / NHS 24 (111 service) Royal Hospital for Children (Glasgow) / Accident & Emergency

(as a parent/guardian),

My son became unwell with difficulties breathing, we called NHS 24 who advised to attend the ooh at the new Victoria hospital, we were seen very quickly to be assessed, treatment began very soon after, unfortunately treatment wasn't helping so we were referred to a&e.

Turns out it's a viral infection, he is given nebulisers and steroids before being monitored to ensure the treatment continues to work.

I cannot praise the NHS staff highly enough, every single person we came into contact with was kind, compassionate and took the time to explain exactly what was happening. Dr. Chris in A&E even found my partner and I a very much appreciated sandwich. The care we received made a very stressful situation much easier to deal with, so thank you all so very very much.

Update posted by Lenska (a parent/guardian)

Thank you for your responses, we ended up spending the night in CDU also and the staff there were also fantastic, please pass our thanks on to everyone in the department too. There are so many negative stories out there about the NHS, but I can hand on heart say that I am so grateful for our wonderful NHS in Scotland. Thanks again.
