"dignity of patients during examinations."

About: Cheltenham General Hospital / Cardiology

I was given an ECG. The leaflet offered to me previously stated that a gown would be offered. it wasn't. I asked about one and was told that it impeded the placing of the pads and wires. I know this to be false from previous ECG's that have been carried out whilst i was wearing a gown. The nurses attitude was stern and unhelpful. I am 65 years of age with multiple health problems. I do not like lying bare breasted amongst strangers even if they are nurses. I felt that my dignity and modesty were compromised. The later and most important part of my assessment was carried out perfectly well with the standard of politeness and respect I expected. This initial problem soured my visit to the cardio dept. With thanks,MJ Byrne. Mrs.

To help us improve this service for patients in the future it would be great if you could get in touch with our patient liaison (PALS) team, so that they can take a few more details? You can call them on 0800 019 3282 (Free phone) or email pals.gloucestershirehospitals@glos.nhs.uk
