I was admitted to ward 47 plastics department following surgery to have preventative double mastectomy. Throughout my 3 nights stay I received a high standard of care from all members of ward staff, who took the time to comfort me when I was poorly after the anaesthetic and at times when I was in pain. They were very quick to help manage my pain and nausea and nothing was too much trouble despite how busy the ward was. The breast reconstruction nurse Claire was amazing and supported me throughout my stay. I was very nervous about being a patient and having surgery as never experienced this before so was not sure what to expect but for my first encounter with staff in the day surgery ward I was put at ease and all staff in both areas looked after me in a caring and compassionate manor. I have no negative comments for my care during my stay and thank all staff with special thanks to Kirsty, Alison, Fiona, Stacey, Jimmy and Owen for helping me on my road to recovery. Also the care I received from the anaesthetist and the recovery staff should be acknowledged as I did not react very well to the anaesthetic and pain medication Andrew he anaesthetist took the time to come back to the ward to review me and my medications.
"Excellent care and attention"
