Just before Christmas my mum, who is 91, was experiencing acute pain. Her amazing GP saw her the same day and referred us to the hospital with a suspected hernia. The staff were all remarkable. We arrived at about 7 p. m and by about 10. 00pm she was on her way to surgery.
She spent some time in recovery and was then transferred to the Copthorne ward where she stayed for 3 nights. The staff throughout were kind, thoughtful, expert and communicated with both mum and me throughout her stay. I cannot praise the staff enough, knowing what difficult circumstances they are working in. To remain positive, professional, helpful and kind under such pressure is heroic.
A member of staff on the corridor even stopped to ask me if I was lost when I was trying to find the ward. The whole culture of the hospital felt helpful and caring. Thank-you, she is recovering well.
