My mother, aged 93 was admitted to D55 in the QMC in early November.
She wasn't the easiest of patients and as her illness progressed she became more aggressive, non- cooperative and depressed. However there were short times also when she reverted to the person we knew.
The support from all the staff, both to her and to the family, was wonderful and deserves a huge thank you.
I specifically remember a Scottish staff nurse, and a staff nurse called Lisa as well as a young male nurse swabbing out her mouth with such care. ( I apologise to the nurse who had her hand bitten too! ) All the staff were amazing both to her and to me when I rang each morning for an update about her.
I would also like to mention, on behalf of her sister who has AMD, how grateful she was to the staff who kindly helped and accompanied her to find the taxi after visiting.
We cannot speak highly enough of the help, support, kindness and medication she received in D55. I hope that this gets you some recognition that you all deserve.
Best wishes, A
( after moving to F14, my mother died on December 8th)
"A huge thank you"
