"the standard of nursing staff ..."

About: Leighton Hospital

(as the patient),

What I liked

the standard of nursing staff , the care and concern showed was really good and i was very impressed

What could be improved

the abilities of student doctors - poor communication and very poor abilities when it came to simple proceedures like fitting canulas , inability to locate quite obvious veins . poor communication .

Anything else?

i was in the hospital for a month and was really impressed by the staff on the ward as a whole , day to day care was very good .

doctors seemed distant and communication was not as good as it could have been . dealing with doctors could be a painful experience yet the nursing staff knew what to do and how to do it . very impressive , standard of care for people across all age ranges was brilliant and i can not priase the nurses enough . i am a professional and earn just under 30k , i work hard and deserve what i earn . when i asked nursing staff what their rates of pay were i was appalled , we do not pay people who show this amount of compassion and care , who remain friendly throughout duties that would make grown adults vomit enough money . fair play to the nursing staff , thank you for your help.

Thank you for your positive feedback, we are sorry to note your concerns about student doctors and will pass this on to the Clinical Skills Tutor.

If any doctor is having difficulty we would expect them to seek support and have additional training rather than to cause any distress to the patient.

As an organisation, we are striving to improve communication skills and have introduced customer care training and awareness sessions to support staff.
