About: Bradford Royal Infirmary

What could be improved

everything.i came in to ane with severe abdominal pain sickness and dehydration at 9pm. i was seen at midnight where i was prodded and poked and then spoken to like a child by the male nurse who also went on to say i should have gone to my doctors and not be wasting hospital time. after which i explained i was not from bradford and there are no doctors open at this time of night who will see someone who is not registered at which he laughed and said he would be back with some pain relief. i was finally administered with pain relief at 4am and then sent up to ward 20 where i was admitted with possible appendicitis. ward 20 was absolute chaos when i got up there i was put on a trolley and told to wait the doctors came round at 9am and then i was taken back and forth for tests. i repeatedly asked for further pain relief but did not receive any. on returning to ward 20 after all tests had been completed at 4pm i was told i could no longer have a trolley to lie on but had to go and sit on a chair in the waiting area although i was still in severe pain and no pain relief administered. By 8pm i could not take any more and the pain was increasing i asked a number of times to see a doctor or anyone who could give me pain relief but was told to wait as there were other patients also which i understood. by midnight i chose to discharge myself as i could not sit on a chair in such pain and nothing was being done. that same night i was driven back to the south west which is where i am from and admitted back into hospital i was given constant medical attention pain relief and i recovered after a few days.

Anything else?

i cannot believe hospitals are run in a manor where the staffing is appalling. there are not enough beds for patients and the level of care is so poor i was absolutely disgusted and thankful i am not a resident of bradford because i would not be able to tolerate this from my local hospital at all.
