"How My Life Was Saved"

About: East Of England Ambulance Service NHS Trust / Emergency ambulance Ipswich Hospital / General medicine

(as a relative),

Just celebrated my 98th birthday and reflecting on what has been a tough year for me I realized that I had forgotten to thank the staff of Heath Hospital.

Last year, I fell ill with pneumonia and finally sepsis set in, literally at death’s door. I was rushed to Heath Hospital. As I was unaware what was happening at that moment, my daughter has informed me that during the dash to the hospital the paramedics were outstanding. Initially I was assessed in Brantham and then transferred to Washbrook ward and later I recovered in Woodbridge ward. In total I spent almost 6 weeks in hospital before moving to my new home.

I would like to take this opportunity to rectify my oversight and thank all the doctors, nurses and staff of Heath Hospital, and in particular those in wards Brantham, Woodbridge and Washbrook. for looking after me so well during my stay. I am pleased to say that I am now fully recovered and looking forward to my 99th birthday next year.

Thank you for leaving your feed back, it is great to hear when the care and treatment that a patient has received has made such a positive impact. I will pass on your kind words to the teams concerned who will be thrilled. Many thanks - Steve Bruce, Patient Experience Team
