Today I experience the worst visit to my very distressed partner. ( he is on is 4th week from being admitted 11th Dec 2016.) I arrived around 3.30 pm to find him hiding behind his screens due to the high noise volumn due to 7 + visitors around the adjacent bed. The noise level was like being on the platform of a London tube train. I spoke with the nurse about his distress and emotional state and the nurse said it was because of a 50th Wedding Anniversary that there were so many visitors. Could there be a separate room for these type of events. My partner is a very tolerant person but his nerve ends were shattered by this total lack of respect towards him and other patients and their well being. The ward say 2 visitors per patient which our family and friends adhere to so why not monitor this rule for the respect of others. I walked away annoyed and distressed that my poorly partner was finding it difficult to cope with. He hasn't had a good night sleep either since being on Rowan Ward. He is exhausted with his situation and needs some compassion and dignity which isn't happening on Rowan Ward.
