What I liked
During my stay (I was in for one week) the nursing staff were helpful and considerate but often forgot what you had asked them for as they were so busy. I saw different doctors each day and the doctor who discharged me didn't even know what I had had done and what medication I was on, or even what follow-up was arranged.
What could be improved
I had my plaster removed in the consultant's fracture clinic on 14th May. The doctor just said 'it's healing well and I will see you again in three months.' I was astonished as the consultant didn't even check whether I could put my foot to the floor, nor was any foot support offered or physiotherapy. I asked whether I should have these things and the consultant replied 'oh, do you want them?' Physio was organised and luckily I have been seeing a wonderful person who has given me exercises to help me strengthen and mobilise my damaged ankle. My concerns are listened to and advise given, this is giving me confidence and relieving the depression I was sinking into.
Anything else?
I do not wish to complain about my treatment, just that more thought is taken. I realise that doctors are busy in the clinics but I came away with so many unanswered questions.
