I was admitted to the Wesburn Ward to be induced due to the 3rd episode of reduced movement. The staff on the ward were lovely and I was kind of left to my own devices apart from for baby to be monitored every 4 hours or so. The only thing I wasn't particularly keen about is the fact that my notes hadn't been read as I was offered pain relief regularly, but in my notes / birth plan, I had specifically stated I didn't want to be offered anything and I would ask if I felt I needed something.
Two days later, I was taken through to the labour ward by Shelley (who after having a bit of a chat with, delivered my first born ) This instantly put my mind at rest as it was lovely having the same midwife involved. Prior to having my waters broken, Shelley and I discussed my birth plan and she agreed to everything and even the point about not offering pain relief, but made sure that I knew what was available should I felt I needed something. Shelley's shift ended and Carla took over and again, it was noted my preference on pain relief. Carla was lovely and very friendly and the 3 of us were chatting away whilst my contractions got stronger.
My baby girl was delivered safely by Carla (and I think there was a few of us who weren't expecting it so quickly! ) Once I moved up Summerfield Ward, Carla had come to tell me Shelley had texted to see how I had been getting on and Carla was asking my permission to share my news! I just thought it was so thoughtful of Shelley to do this.
All the midwives I had dealt with during my time from Westburn Ward through to Summerfield Ward, especially Shelley and Carla, were lovely, caring, friendly and approachable, and made my stay in AMH a more enjoyable experience!
