I visited my Grandson in ward 3c of the Children's Hospital and was appalled at the complete lack of security. I walked through the corridors and entered the ward without anyone asking who I was or why I was there. I saw no staff until I went to the kitchen to put some food into the fridge and was somewhat taken aback to find that a six digit code was needed to get into the kitchen!
In Yorkhill, vititors had to be identified and buzzed into the ward to enter. All schools in Scotland have intercom entry systems so why are childrens wards not similarly protected given the worldwide climate of terrorism etc?
