I went to Dewsbury Hospital to see a consultant about my hip, he told me I would need a hip operation and that I could expect an appointment in 10 weeks.

I just rang up to make an appointment with the bookings secretary and she says I can’t have an appointment for 26 weeks!

It’s outrageous. I wanted to complain to NHS Kirklees about this, but when I call their PALS line, no one answers. I’ve been trying all day and getting more angry. This just isn’t good enough.

I am sorry to hear that you were dissatisfied when trying to get through to our PALS helpline and I apologise you were not able to speak with an Adviser. We try to answer all calls, but unfortunately, at times we are busy on the phones with other callers. To ensure we do not miss a call we have an answer phone service which will pick up calls we are unable to answer. We aim to phone these callers back the same day, or at a time which is convenient to the caller. Our office hours are 9am to 4pm Monday to Friday. We really try hard to improve our services based on the comments we receive. We would like the opportunity to discuss your experiences more fully and to apologise in person.
