"Mislabelled blood tests"

About: St Mary's Hospital (Melton Mowbray)

I had blood tests taken end of October. I was reassured that "if there are any problems, we will contact you". After chasing around by telephone for a week, I have found out the samples were mislabelled, so they needed to be redone. Frankly, I think that is a problem. It would have meant when I finally got to see the consultant in February, the appointment would have been wasted. So now I wait for a form, and I have to get back to the hospital - and hope this time they label them correctly. It will be January before any of this can be done. I just hope they are ready for February.

Dear reviewer, thank you for your comments and on behalf of the Trust we would like to apologise for the inconvenience caused by your blood samples being mislabelled.

Please advise at your next appointment that these samples have to be ready in time for your appointment with your consultant in February.

Any queries at anytime please contact our Patient Liaison Team (PILS) either by email pils@uhl-tr.nhs.uk or Freephone 08081 788337 with your name, address and hospital number and they can access your patient records and help you.

Best wishes, Communications Team, Leicester's Hospitals.
