"Friendly SHO"

About: Bradford Royal Infirmary

(as the patient),

What I liked

Friendly SHO

What could be improved

I was sent to ward 20 by my GP at 6pm with suspected appendicitus and sat in the waiting room untill 11pm in severe pain, my husband requested pain killers several times for me and was told "soon". Finally at 12pm I got some pain relief and managed to get a bed on ward 20 at 6AM!!! Staff were extremly rushed off there feet, apparently only 2 qualified staff to 33 patients which is not acceptable!

I asked for pain relief several times and was either ignored or told "soon".

I wasn't allowed to eat or drink from 7pm the night before, everytime I requested to know if I could eat or drink I was told someone would see me soon.

Eventually discharged 6pm as the consultant didn't have time to carry out more than one investigation and I'd given up and asked to come home, nobody has any time for you, which is not thier fault directly but the ward managers for not staffing properly.

Anything else?

Pain still current which makes me wonder how many other people are either discharged early due to pressure on the beds or just give up and leave!

Come on BRI you are now a foundation trust!
