"She was a God send"

I have never had an advocate before in my life. I suffer from bi-polar and have done so for almost 40 years. I’m on a fair amount of medication (Lithium) is one of the drugs.

I was married for over 50 years, but last year we parted. I met a young man at our support group and we fell in love. I now live with him. We’re very happy. He has schizophrenia. But he’s a very caring and loving boy.

Him and myself have had an awful lots of stress these past months. I get very confused about forms etc. and meetings and what people say to us. It’s my illness. I contacted Laura who worked for Advocacy Support CYMRU and my partner and myself found her a God send. She helped in a lot of meetings.

As I’ve said, myself and my partner find certain things complicated, and Laura would just write down what we found hard. My partner has had his E. S. A stopped because I live with him and his Dad and I’ve got capital because I partially own the family house.

My husband never abused me. The marriage just broke down. Laura was amazing a real help.
