My father collapsed whilst we were shopping and he was taken to the Royal Gwent, being in healthcare myself I have heard a lot of stories about this hospital and was worried about about what was going to happen. I must congratulate the doctors and nurses who were working that day in an extremely cramped, at one point the area he was in had to be split into two as yet another trauma came in and there wasn't any space left, and busy department.
We were in the department for 5 hours in which time numerous tests, including bloods, x-rays and CT scan spoke to three consultants from different specialties and at all times were treated with respect and as much dignity as the conditions they were working in allowed. Thankfully although we were shocked at what these tests revealed I was able to take my father home later that evening and wait for follow-up from our regional hospital.
