"The consultant that cared for ..."

About: York Hospital

(as the patient),

What I liked

The consultant that cared for me was lovely! I couldn't have asked for better.

The trainee nurse who looked after me was also kind, friendly, caring, sympathetic and helpful.

What could be improved

The nurse that was in-charge during my stay unfortunately wasn't so nice!

I was told that if there was anything that I was unsure of or worried about just ask and they would help.

But on asking the nurse a simple question which should have been straight forward, I was completely shocked by her attitude.

She was loud, aggressive, unsympathetic and completely humiliated me in front of a very full and busy ward. All this & she didn't even answer the question I had asked!!

I was so embarrassed that I asked to be discharged right away. The Ward Sister then shouted out half my address then said to another member of staff "he can be rung now then". He, being reference to my husband who was coming to collect me! This was said at the foot of my bed, yet I was totally ignored by her!

I found her whole attitude unnecessary, unjustified & completely unforgivable.

Anything else?

I would like to thank all the other members of staff who were involved with my care, they were all friendly & tried to put me at ease when ever possible. THANK YOU!!
