We were invited to a 'first time mum's group' by the health visitor, Sharon. My baby girl was 11 weeks old at the time and I had recently moved to the area so I didn't know anyone. There was a group of 8 of us with babies of around the same age. We met at The Salvation Army Hall in Balderton on a Friday morning for 5 weeks and various things were put on for us each week by the health visitor such as baby first aid, and a visit from a children's worker from the Surestart Centre to tell us a bit about babies' development and play.
All of us in the group have become great friends, we still meet up at least once a week and we WhatsApp everyday! I would just like to praise the health visiting team on such a brilliant initiative, being a new mum is wonderful but it can be extremely daunting and testing at times and I don't know what I would do without this group of friends. I really hope the 'first time mum's group' is something that will continue to provide many more women an invaluable support network.
Thank you!
