"Psychiatry tameside"

About: Pennine Care NHS Foundation Trust / Adult mental health

(as the patient),

I have not been kept informed about anything.Did not know anything that was being done.

Given impression anything shared with psychiatrist was confidential. Never told about such things as team meetings, multidisciplinary meetings etc Information was given not only to psychiatrists but psychologists, social services and more.

Students were also present. When I discovered what had happened I commented that I felt my permission should have been given for students to be present. I received a very curt response that they have to learn. The exact response was given by 2 people in different places.

I felt like responses to different subjects were rehearsed. Maybe not but the attitude seemed the same. Because of extremely incorrect information being given the police were involved. For this even dates were wrong. This caused my family to be approached.

I was misled by a key worker beforehand that the police were only coming because he was "interested" In effect I was unknowingly interviewed.

A mental health assesssment was given to me by my CPN 3 months after it was dated. 13 of 18 pages were incorrect including housing, personal information, and even my gender. 2 different names also given.

The "corrected" came with 3 pages missing. 3 yrs later and 4 attempts it was still incorrect.

In my opinion the service and treatment by everyone involved was disgraceful. I told the psychiatrist I thought the whole process was conducted like the Secret Services.

I am no longer a patient of Tameside and Glossop. At great expense I have gone private where I was also treated for PTSD directly related to these incidents.

Hello,

Firstly thank you for sharing this, we are sorry to hear that you have had this experience with our services. We will pass it on to managers of mental health services in Tameside and Glossop so they are aware of the issues you have raised. We will also share it with the Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS) who can look into the concerns on your behalf, but they would need more information such as which exact services you were seen by and when. You can contact them by emailing pals.penninecare@nhs.net or calling 0161 716 3178.

Thank you.

Hello,

Healthwatch Tameside are an independent organisation - the local consumer champion for health and care. We talk to people who use NHS services in Tameside and find out what the experience was like for them. As the voice of the public, we help local services to make changes.

At the moment, we are looking at people's experiences of mental health services. What we find out will then help us to decide which direction our mental health service work will go in during 2017.

If you would be interested in telling us about your experiences in more detail, to help us with this work, please get in touch either by phone on 0161 667 2526 and ask for a member of the Healthwatch Tameside team, or email us at info@healthwatchtameside.co.uk

Thank you
