"My mother left with no food or drink"

About: North West Ambulance Service NHS Trust / Patient transport service Royal Blackburn Hospital / Accident and emergency

(as a relative),

No ambulances available for my Mother, who is in her 80s and suffering severe bone pain from chemotherapy treatment. Left in a cubicle all night, no drink or food offered, even in morning. She had to suffer over an hour of excruciating pain before given morphine. No respect for her dignity, leaving cubicle open for all to see. A total shambles in my opinion, with no regard for patient.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience on Patient Opinion. I am extremely sorry to hear about the poor care that your Mother received. We would appreciate the opportunity to investigate further what happened on this occasion and explore why your Mother didn’t receive the level of service that we would expect to provide to her.

If you would like North West Ambulance Service to look into the situation in more detail then please contact our Patient Experience team either by phone Monday – Friday 10am-3pm or by email patientexperience@nwas.nhs.uk and they will look into the concerns that you have raised.

Many Thanks
