"Care and attention during orthopaedic surgery"

About: University Hospital Hairmyres / Trauma & Orthopaedics (Wards 1 & 5)

(as the patient),

I would like to thank Mr Periasamy and team for the care and attention received during and after my hip operation.

All staff on Ward 1 involved in pre operative care were outstanding and I can't praise them enough for the individual nursing care and empathy given in what must be a very difficult job.

The only negative comment is regarding the patient waiting time promise. I was placed on the waiting list May 2016 and was admitted November 2016 which caused a great deal of stress.

I was not kept informed by the hospital admin staff of any delay.

When calling it is an answerphone and when a member of staff calls back you are advised you will receive the first available operation date (which could mean anything)

Dear Annie0304,

Thank you for the kind comments regarding staff care and compassion during your stay, I'll be passing on your post to the nurse in charge of the Ward and to Mr Periasamy and his staff.

I'm sorry you had difficulties with waiting time promises, and I'll ask my colleague Graham Simpson to look into this for you and respond in his role as Service Manager.

I hope you are well at home and wish you as speedy recovery meantime.

Kind Regards

Gwen
