"Poor care from check in to check out not the first time"

About: Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital

(as a carer),

Well where to start đŸ˜¨ firstly the TRUST advertises, sepsis 1 hour. What a joke. Triage really bad. Observations not adequately checked. Miscommunication regarding actual diagnosis poor and factually incorrect. Septic patient sent with no fluid up to ward. Nurse too pushed bad and rude communication between me and A&E nurse and then between A&E and Ward. Due to miscommunication patient mistreated and nearly sent home having been mismanaged in my opinion. How many times does this need to happen? For an outstanding hospital the care is seriously bad from check in until check out. I feel so sad this is what I will remember as my relative is dying.

Dear Bobbuilder,

I was truly sorry to read your review regarding the experience your relative had. From what you have described, the standard of care that your relative received is certainly not acceptable, and I was disappointed that the care regarding sepsis fell below your expectations. I was also saddened at the level of communication you describe, as this is not what we expect from staff, and your concerns will certainly be passed onto the teams involved in your relative’s care.

As I am sure you can understand, due to the nature of this review, I would like to look into this case in more detail, but I am unable to do so due to the anonymity of the post. With your relative’s permission could you please send their details to patient.experience@northumbria-healthcare.nhs.uk.

Kind regards,

Jessica
