"Fantastic urgent treatment"

About: Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire NHS 111

(as a parent/guardian),

Too many critics are quick to point out the faults of the NHS (and other emergency services). Here's an example of the NHS at its best...

My son went to bed with very laboured breathing and woke up very distressed several times. Rang 111 at 0630 for triage. Out of hours GP rang at 0700. Appointment made for 0820.

The doctor had a fantastic bedside manner and spent close to an hour with us over the course of nearly 2 hours (observation to ensure medicines were working and that there was no relapse). Returned home with a much happier child. In the door 10 minutes and the phone went. Doctor checking that he was still okay, reconfirming medicine doses and reminding me to get back in touch immediately if there was a relapse.

It is a pity that for every gripe about the NHS, there isn't the 100s of good news 'business as usual' stories shared.
