"Great Experience of dermatology care"

I recently attended Dr Wong's dermatology clinic as an out patient at Fazakerly hospital (Aintree), Liverpool.

My skin condition acts like an allergy only appearing in localised areas but can come on quickly and often leave scarring.

After my GP referred me to a dermatologist I was concerned about the six week wait because it was highly likely that the reaction (on my leg at the time) would be gone by then and I would turn up looking like a complete hypochondriac.

Fortunately Dr Wong gave me an open appointment which meant I could go away and the next time a reaction occurred I would be given an appointment immediately. I must admit I was skeptical given the initial 6 week wait.

When things did flare up again I contacted the outpatients department on a Wednesday afternoon, from work, at about 3.30pm. Dr Wong rang me himself on my mobile as I was leaving work at 5 O'clock and asked me to come and see him the next day at 9am. This was fantastic as the Dr would get to see the problem, I told my boss I was in hospital in the morning and wasn't sure what time i would be in.

At 9am I went straight through to Dr Wong, had a 20 minute consultation, was sent for blood tests and collected my prescription all before 10 am. I was back in work by 11 with a diagnosis and treatment for a condition that had bothered me for years plus another appointment to review my progress in 2 weeks.

Fantastic - this is my first experience of using hospitals and the horror stories tend to make you expect the worst! The staff were friendly helpful and polite and my experience could not have been better! A big thumbs up to Fazakerly from me!
