"East Leake Children's Centre"

About: East Leake Children's Centre

(as a service user),

The staff at the East Leake Children's Centre have been exceptional. Every time I see them they remember my name, and my three children's names. They make me feel extremely welcome to the Centre and have gone out of their way to help me whenever I visit the Children's Centre. However, I am extremely disappointed to learn that their Bumps to Babies session on a Thursday morning has had to be cut to fortnightly. This session is absolutely essential for new mums in the town. Not coincidentally, the community midwife runs her postnatal appointments on a Thursday from the same building. New mums are encouraged to pop in with their babies and a welcomed with open arms. I fear that if this changes to fortnightly the charm of the group will be lost as many new parents will go elsewhere. It is a well-attended group with at least 10 mums every week. I would urge the decision-makers to reconsider funding for this group as I see it as an essential part of our community.

Thank you for sharing your experience of the children's centre with us. I am pleased the staff have been so helpful and supportive. We really do acknowledge the importance of providing somewhere for new mums to access. We are continually reviewing the service we provide in order to ensure we can maitain a high standard of service and be acessible to all. In order to make this possible we have made the decision to alternate the baby group in East Leake with one in Keyworth which will start in February. This will ensure all new parents will have access to a weekly group, either in Keyworth or East Leake. I hope this goes some way to aleviate your concerns and we hope to see you in the centres soon.
