What could be improved
Communication between staff. Not having to wait to be seen when the shift was changing.
Anything else?
I was sent to A&E by my GP as I was having pleuritic chest pain, possibly a blood clot in my lung, I was incredibly scared as my husband had died of this in the very same department a year before. I explained this to every person, doctor, nurse but they did not seem to have any form of communication with each other. Every time I told them increased my anxiety. As it was the shift change time I had to wait over an hour to be seen, then after 3 and a half hours I asked what was happening, they stated that they were waiting for blood results to come back - well they would have a blooming long wait my blood hadnt been taken. I went home, still with chest pain and still non the wiser as to the cause and probably with a few negative comments in my casenotes. Also when I was there an elderly lady with facial lacerations from a fall at home was left to wander unattended, to find a bathroom even though nursing staff had been asked for help several times.
