"Efficient and reassuring care"

This was my first visit to a sexual health clinic so I have nothing to compare it to, but I was really impressed.

I'd booked online about a week in advance and my appointment was delayed by about quarter of an hour, for which the staff member who saw me apologised. However, given that I regularly have much longer waits at my doctors and dentists, I don’t really consider this a delay. It’s very hard to judge how long patients will take to see.

The staff member was absolutely lovely: very friendly, immediately put me at ease, was not at all bothered when I messed up the first test despite her clear instructions. They took real care in making sure that I was comfortable when the blood test was taken – I have low blood pressure so sometimes feel faint after this type of procedure. We were chatting away so happily I didn’t even realise the sample had been taken. I was pleased that the result of HIV test was instant, which I hadn’t realised would be the case. The results of the other tests were texted through to me about a week later.

As someone who had no symptoms but just wanted a thorough health screen and so could book a little in advance, the service was excellent. Efficient booking system and texting of results, and a really lovely, reassuring staff member.
