"Not able to speak to anyone on the phone"

About: Amersham Health Centre

(as a relative),

My mother has a glaucoma check every 9 months at Amersham hospital. She had an appointment for mid September but this was cancelled and she received a letter with a new date in January. The time of the new appointment meant that I couldn’t be there to take her to the appointment but she was prepared to get a driver to take her.

The out of the blue she receives another letter saying the appointment has been changed to March and is now at High Wycombe hospital, which is even further away!

I have just rang ophthalmology is, it says on the appointment letter that the department is open 8am- 5pm. I was second in the queue, then first, then I received an automated message to say no one is available to take the call and then I was cut off.

I tried to go through the main hospital switch board but when they put me through, again, no one answered. The automated message said the department closes at 4. 30, which is at odds with the letter we relieved.

My point is my mother’s new appointment is 6 months later than her planned appointment, and at another hospital, and I am annoyed there is not even anyone around to talk to about this.
