"Pointless appointment"

About: Northern General Hospital / Pain Management

After waiting almost 5 months for an appointment I was seen by the pain "specialist" for less than 10 minutes and got told to go away and deal with my pain. The doctor I saw couldn't have seemed less interested in my problems. I have been going to see my GP for almost three years for a unknown pain problem that effects me from my neck to my toes, obviously dealing with the pain is no longer an option or I would not have been refereed to the pain clinic. The only examination I had was being asked to try and touch my toes, I can bearly bend my back so there was no chance in me being able to do this.

The doctor then lectured me about taking my medication and how it works (considering I have been taking it for months I know how the medication I am on works). When asked if I am a smoker I replied NO and still got told how I need to quit smoking to help my health!?! By the end of the appointment I had been discharged back to my GP.

The only advice the doctor gave me was to do more exercise, proving again they had paid no attention as I told them more than once that since I have had these issues I have had to give up cycling, climbing and running. Appalling would be an understatement. I hope the nhs is going to be willing to cover my wages when I can no longer work because of these issues.
