"No hoist meant a wasted journey to Weston Park"

About: Royal Hallamshire Hospital

(as the patient),

I am a tetraplegic and need to have an MRI. My doctor is based at Royal Hallamshire and their appointment department called to make the appointment. I made an appointment at Weston Park MRI department. I got there 30 minutes early, was sent directly in, only to be told that they couldn't do an MRI on me because they didn't have a hoist to lift me. The technician at Weston Park showed me a form from Hallamshire that had "tetraplegic" written on it, so the people at Hallamshire knew that I needed a hoist, why would they send me somewhere that didn't have one? Why couldn't they have done it there? Now I have to wait for another appointment and drive all the way back to have it done. I am on income support, and with petrol being 4 pound a gallon, driving there for no reason is very costly.
