"Hepatobiliary Team at Freeman Hospital - Best..."

About: Freeman Hospital

I was devastated when I realised I had to have extensive pancreatic surgery. After my operation I was admitted to Ward 5 & Ward 6 - Hepatobiliary Team. I can honestly state that the medical and nursing care was exemplary. The professionalism and warmth of the staff was second to none.

I was genuinely greeted by all grades of staff on entering my room from medic to housekeeper. I was always treated with dignity and respect. I was kept informed of my progress throughout and my thoughts, wishes and opinions were listened to and valued. I'm sure this assisted my speedy recovery from this major surgery.

Words alone cannot express my gratitude to them for the care not only to me, but my visiting family.

These wards certainly achieved the Hospitals' vision, strategic goals and values. The hospital itself I found scrupulously clean and tidy and the other support staff I met from physiotherapist's and radiographers to secretaries and porters were kind and friendly.

Having worked with many UK hospitals and healthcare facilities during my role as Nurse Manager I have never known a hospital with such genuinely friendly, happy staff- something to be proud of.

Freeman Hospital certainly lives up to its reputation as one of the top hospitals in the UK and the tagline - "Healthcare at it's very best and with a personal touch" is very apt. I will be forever grateful for the care and compassion afforded me at the Freeman. I have made a great recovery thus far and have a good prognosis. I cannot thank the staff enough for the future they have given to myself and my family. I could not have chosen a better surgeon or hospital. It came as no surprise to me that Freeman Hospital has an outstanding CQC rating after the last inspection. Thank you to Prof - all the Medical and Nursing staff from Pre- Assessment to Theatres & Anesthetics, Critical Care to Pain Management Team, Wards 5 & 6 to Physiotherapists and Secretaries from the bottom of my heart -x- You saved my life and I shall never be able to repay that debt to you -x-
