"Feeling thankful for excellent care"

About: London Ambulance Service NHS Trust Queen's Hospital / General medicine

(as the patient),

I had a suspected stroke and my daughter called 999. We had help within 5 mins from paramedics and the ambulance arrive within 15 minutes. This was brilliant, I was tested at the scene and advised we needed to go to Queens Stroke Unit. The crew were very professional, excellent and I was kept informed. Even about the siren being switched on. They called ahead to A&E to avoid waiting and got straight to the Stroke Unit in under 10 mins because all of the prep had been done. Ian (nurse) was brilliant. I was assessed straight away, CT scan done. Ian is out of this world in the way he conducted the whole thing.

I was admitted for 24 hours monitoring, staff were just brilliant. I could see NHS under pressure. I was monitored through the night and all the staff were good,

Treatment worked, seen by doctor who were obviously rushed but I think the service is world class and we should be proud of them.

I spoke to some staff and they are doing 12 hour shifts and they were brilliant and we should be commending them.

Staff nurse Katherine dealt with patients so nicely, explained everything all the way through to discharge.

Nothing but good things to say and my heart goes out all the people on the coalface doing such a brilliant job

Auxiliary nurses Luca, Raman, these guys are so experienced very very kind and also Benny.

Ian was genuinely brilliant, so busy but really cared and knew all about me at all times.

Doctors were excellent too. I saw firsthand how much the staff were under pressure and did a brilliant job.

Read in the papers that everything is going downhill. Rewards, more staff and more recognition is needed.

Thank you for taking the time to comment on the care you received from our staff at Queen’s Hospital and I hope that you are recovering well.

I am delighted to see that all of the staff you came into contact with offered you such great care at what must have been an extremely difficult time for you and you daughter. This is the level of service I expect all of our staff to provide to patients, so I hope this continues in the future.

I will ensure that your comments are passed onto the Divisional Nurse for this area so that she can share this with her staff.

Yours Sincerely

Nadeem Moghal

Medical Director
